Description: Upon reaching the milestone of 35 years of diplomatic relations between China & Australia, and against the background of ever improving economic ties, trade links, cultural exchange and tourism, the peoples and governments of China and Australia enjoy a unique bond developed in a spirit of friendship and harmony.
The strength of this relationship is matched only by the mutual determination to continue exploring new ways to work together and deepen understanding. A highlight of this enduring friendship was Australia’s successful hosting of the Sydney Olympics, at which China attained its second highest medal tally ever. Now, the Chinese people look forward to welcoming Australian friends to their shores, whilst Australia in turn has offered her support and best wishes for the success of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In this spirit, mainstream Australians, Chinese Australians and Chinese people everywhere will come together in December to both celebrate 35 years of a wonderful friendship, and also to wish Beijing all the best for the 2008 Olympics.
