Description: Australia is a multicultural nation, with people drawn from all the ethnic backgrounds the world has to offer. Australian Chinese are an important part of this nation, and furthermore, Chinese culture has also become an important part of Australia’s cultural rainbow. The City of Sydney is set amongst a beautiful environment, with an enviable climate.
Over the years, Chinese Australian artists and troupes based in Sydney have enriched the cultural life of overseas Chinese, and made a strong contribution to cultural exchange between Australia and China. This year brings us to the 35th anniversary of China-Australian diplomatic relations. The comprehensive cooperation of the two nations in the pursuit of mutual friendship and economic prosperity has enriched the peoples of these two nations, and has contributed to world peace. Under this spirit of cooperation and jubilation,
the Australian Chinese Performing Artists’ Association has established Sydney Chinese Cultural Festival, in order to give a proper forum to the rich depth of Chinese artistic talent in Sydney, whilst at the same time uniting these artists under a common brand. The establishment of the festival will act as a catalyst for the future cultural development of Sydney and provide a fitting stage to the city’s up and coming performing artists. In preparation for the festival, the presenters benefited from the collective knowledge, experience and enthusiasm of artists and artistic troupes of all backgrounds. It is hoped that through the hard work of the presenters and the participating artists that the Sydney Chinese Cultural Festival will grow from strength to strength, blossoming into one of the cultural gems of the South Pacific.
