Review: Sydney Opera House, 28th March 1993- the world-famous opera house that has the shape of a sail boat voyage, can be clearly seen from distance in the late autumn sunset. During its 20-years history, this is the first time it welcomed such a large amount of Chinese people. Some of them are from mainland China; some are from Hong Kong, Macao, and some from Singapore or Malaysia. Today, they meet with the Chinese artists in Australia in the temple of Art to enjoy the large-scale theatrical variety show
The Opera House was filled with mixed emotions and excitement, and above all, great pride. Before the opening of the show, the Minister of Immigration and Citizenship gave a special message to all the audience and the performers for a successful event.
The next morning on the local Chinese newspaper has such a title: “Art Beat: 40,000 Chinese gathered in the Sydney Opera House for the ‘China Soul’ performance and wrote a pure poem of soul. It is of an outstanding significance: for the first time the Chinese migrants has had a performance in the Sydney Opera House to signify the presence of the Chinese community in the fabric of Australian multicultural society.
