ACPAA Win the first prize of “2008 Chinese New Year Parade” Award
Celebrate the Year of the Rat at the festival’s most compelling extravaganza-the Chinese New Year Parade. Featuring 2500 performers including 600 people and floats from China’s historic Shaanxi Province and local Chinese community groups, this year’s Parade promises to be the most exciting yet with a newly extended route and a concert in Sydney many place Australia Chinese Performing Artists Association is dedicated to promoting cultural exchange between Australia and China, whilst at the same time promoting harmonious community relations within Australia by involving people from different ethnic groups in our local productions. During the 2007 Chinese New Year time, ACPPA lead 8 Groups of Chinese Artists to join in the Sydney Chinese New Year Parade. First Group: Harmonious Society Leader: XianHui Wu From : Australia Guangzhou Association Group This group constitute by 12 families, it embody the Asian Families in Australia this harmonious Society, everybody friendly and Happiness. Each child will hold the cute piggy props, and let the out the thousand balloons in the Parade.
Second Group: Happiness Atmosphere Leader: MeiYue Liang Chuan Lu From: Southern Star Performing Arts Lucy Dancing School This group constitute by 50 children, they will hold the bell drum, beat the happy rhythm, and follow by the lovely dance in the Parade.
Third Group: China Nations Show Leader: RenYing Zhang From: Artists Group of Australia Shanghainese Association China do have 56 nations, this group will wear the most representative costume to show us the Varied Chinese traditional dress. Also show in the dance in the Parade.
Fourth Group: Chinese Opera Show Leader: ZhongHe Chen From: Sydney ShaoXing opera troupe Sydney Cathay Playhouse This group will wear the traditional Chinese Opera costumes to show us the different drama character and plot.
Fifth Group: Varied Custom Show Leader: Mei Li From: Australia Sydney Red Maple Leaves Art Group Inc. This group will show us the Chinese traditional celebration for good harvest. Eg. Lion Dance, Donkey Race, Land Boat Race. With the folk costumes.
Sixth Group: Rosy Life Leader: lily Cheng Ran Wang From: Australia Oriental Dance Group This group will wear the tang dynasty costumes, and hold the lucky and traditional props. Follow up is mermaid dance, and interlude in the parade.
Seventh Group: Happiness lucky year Leader: JianSheng Dong Feng Chen From: Australia yellow reiver chorus This Group will wear the traditional dress follow by the colored vehicle; hold the Chinese lantern to perform the Chorus.
Eighth Group: Meet in Chinese New Year Leader: DongJun From: Australia Chinese Performing Artists Association This Group leading by a Big Chinese gong and drum Group, push the happiness Atmosphere, and the beating rhythm also conduct the other groups.
