The most distinct characteristic of this performance was as concluded by Mr. Qiu Shao Fang, the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney in his opening speech. ‘Throughout the years the Australian Chinese Performing Artist Association, Sydney local artists and artists groups has built a bridge of friendship between Chinese and Australians by the means of culture and arts. In the performance hall the ‘Confucius Culture Worldwide’ exhibition was the most eye catching event. Supported by Chinese Society for Promotion of the Guangcai Programme and Chinese Confucius Foundation the exhibition added more Chinese cultural elements to the Arts Festival. Another highlight in this event is the program ‘Olympic Torch’ which is composed by Greek artists for the Festival. The song sang together by Chinese and Greek singers is in celebration of the 100 days countdown to Beijing Olympics. After the song a Greek girl handed the symbol of peace, an olive branch wreath into the hands of a Chinese Tibetan girl. This symbolized the people’s wish for peace worldwide and overseas Chinese’s best wishes for Beijing Olympics.
