The Year of the Ox has passed quickly, and already Chinese New Year is upon us. This year Chinese New Year Celebrations welcome the Year of the Tiger, and this year it is our honour and privilege to welcome the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Symphony Orchestra to our homes.
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Symphony Orchestra is the pride of China, having many young musicians across the country yearning to join the esteemed troupe. Being a Symphony Orchestra of military heritage, each performer brings with them unique energy and discipline that sets the group apart from other symphony orchestras.
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Symphony Orchestra is without a doubt China’s most magnificent Symphony Orchestra. Highly experienced in the world of music, they have performed in large scale events including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for both the 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralympics Games, the Tiananmen Square Parade for the 60th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
The troupe has a 50 year history in which it has given more than 7000 performances at the invitation of local and international leaders and organizations, often featuring some of the many pieces specially composed by and for the orchestra. As an Australian highlight, a total of 99 members will be participating in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2010 Sydney. Rare and memorable, this is definitely an opportunity not to be missed.
