Welcome Banquet for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Symphony Orchestra. Celebrating the 2010 Chinese New Year

The Consulate General Mr. Shan Hu hosted a banquet to welcome all members of the symphony orchestra, and celebrated Chinese New Year with them at his place of residence.
On the evening of February the 9th 2010, the Consulate General of China in Sydney held a welcome banquet for the People’s Liberation Army Symphony Orchestra coming to Sydney to participate in the “Edinburgh Tattoo”.
Attending the Banquet were General Jishun Dong and Deputy Hai Yu, 90 members of the Symphony Orchestra and ACPAA officials.

Consulate General Shan Hu gave a warm welcome to the Symphony Orchestra for their visit to Sydney, and congratulated them for their excellent performance during the Arts Festival. Mr. Hu expressed how the strict nature of military disciple and the talent of their acting skills left a profound impact on the Australian audience. Political Commissioner Dong presented a speech addressing the care given to the Symphony Orchestra while in Sydney, expressing a heartfelt thank you for the help and support the Consulate has provided the Symphony Orchestra, and wishing the Consulate best wishes in the New Year. The president of ACPAA Junwu Yu gave a brief speech, expressing the pride and excitement in seeing the Chinese Military, even so much as the Symphony Orchestra, overseas.
The banquet featured performances from members of the Symphony Orchestra and cultural performances from performers from the ACPAA. The military band gave a short introduction of many of the Orchestra’s instruments and proceeded to give a wonderful performance. The celebration was pushed to a climax by singing happy birthday to 5 members of the band, of which the audience joined in with great enthusiasm. Conducted by Hai Yu, everyone joined in to sing one final song, the “Ode to the Motherland”.
On the evening of February the 6th, Consulate General Hu was invited to attend the “Edinburgh Tattoo”. In addition to the People’s Liberation Army Symphony Orchestra, performances came from a wide range of Military Orchestras ranging from Russia; the United States, Britain, Norway, Switzerland and New Zealand.
